Install Proxmox on USB VE 7.0

Proxmox USB Install, Maybe for students, especially those who are steeped in IT or IT practitioners, Promox is not something new. Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment) is a Debian-based Linux distribution that functions for Virtualization. Proxmox VE pampers its users as a Virtualization Platform Server with a management interface via the web. Why use Proxmox, in our opinion Proxmox is very easy and uncomplicated to use with its function as for Virtualization, where we can run services or other Operating Systems in Proxmox and also Opensource or free.

Proxmox VE is also known as type Hypervisor, what is a Hypervisor as well as its meaning with Virtualization is a Service that can manage Virtual Machines, create, configure and run them.

Advantages of Proxmox (Proxmox USB Install)

  • The first is of course free
  • Very easy and uncomplicated
  • Web-based
  • Support Kernel Based Virtual Machine (KVM) and OpenVZ Virtual Iscsi platforms, VM Linux Container (LXC)
  • Can be in the Cluster and between hosts do not have to have the same specifications
  • Support various hard disk formats
  • Very little memory requirement
  • Has an Auto Backup feature with flexible scheduling for both internal and external hard drives
  • The latest Proxmox can be migrated Live.

Proxmox VE Technology Features (Proxmox USB Install)

KVM and Containers

  • Kernel Based Virtual Machine

KVM is a Kernel-based Virtual Machine that was added to Linux to create Full Virtualization

  • Linux Container or LXC

LXC is a virtualization using containers. The high level of efficiency and also the speed of access makes the current LXC growing fast

Management

Can perform centralized management, Unique Multi-Master Design, Proxmox Cluster File System (pmxcfs), Web-based Management Interface, Command Line, RESTful API, Role-based Administration, and Authentication Realms

High Availability

Proxmox VE has High Availability Clusters, Proxmox VE HA (High Availability) Manager and Proxmox VE Simulator.

  • Proxmox VE HA (High Availability) Manager represents all virtual machines and containers in the entire cluster and automatically starts if one of them fails.[8] Or In other words High Availability (HA) makes a server (application) experiencing a problem that causes the service to not run, with the HA being combined in infrastructure and virtualization, the occurrence of downtime or service malfunctions can be reduced. Time for downtime and restore services/systems can be done quickly so that it does not interfere with the operations/businesses carried out by the organization/company.
  • The integrated Proxmox VE Simulator allows you to learn all the HA (High Availability) functions and test the settings made before going into production.

Network

Proxmox VE uses a bridged networking model. Each host can have up to 4094 bridges. Bridges are like physical network switches implemented in software on Proxmox VE hosts. All VMs can share one bridge as if the virtual network cables from each guest were plugged into the same switch. To connect a VM to the outside world, a bridge is attached to a physical network card assigned a TCP/IP configuration. For future flexibility, VLAN (IEEE 802.1q) and unified networks are possible

Storage (Proxmox USB Install)

The storage model in Proxmox VE is very flexible. Virtual machine images can be stored on one or more local storages or on shared storage such as NFS and SAN.

  • Proxmox VE supports local storage with LVM groups, directories and ZFS.
  • As well as network storage types with iSCSI, Fiber Channel, NFS, GlusterFS, CEPH.

Backup and Restore

Proxmox VE supports scheduled Backup and Restore and supports various types of storage media.

Firewall (Proxmox USB Install)

Proxmox VE supports distributed firewalls and is very supportive of security in IPv4 and IPv6 addressing (Firewall tutorial can be seen here)

What Must Be Prepared Install Proxmox Ve 7.0 (Proxmox USB Install)

That’s a little about Install Proxmox Ve 7.0 as a basic discussion. We will continue in the Installation. For installation, we must prepare the Proxmox VE ISO file first. The ISO can be downloaded on the Proxmox Official Website

  1. Download ISO Proxmox VE ( Download Iso Proxmox ).
  2. Prepare Bootable Applications (Rufus, balenaEtcher, etc.)
  3. USB Flashdisk
  4. Then Create a Bootable Proxmox ISO

If you have created a Bootable USB, plug it into the USB and enter the BIOS, set the Boot Priority on the USB. Then Reboot

Steps to Install Proxmox VE 7.0 (Proxmox USB Install)

The Welcome to Proxmox Proxmox Virtual Environment page will appear > Select Install Proxmox VE > Enter

In the End User License > Select “I agree”

Select the Target Harddisk to be used > Then Click Next

Select Language and Time Zone > Click Next

Fill in the Root Password (This password is used to login as an Admin or Administrator, we recommend creating a password that is quite secure) and Email is used to send an Alert from the System > Then click Next

Select the interface used, fill in the Hostname, Gateway and don’t forget DNS Server > Next

A Summary will appear containing all the configurations that have been made or previously selected > Then click Install

Wait for the Proxmox Ve 7.0 Install Process to Finish

Install Proxmox

Then Automatically Proxmox will reboot after the installation process is complete, if not, you can select > Reboot > Wait for Reboot to Finish The CLI Console Login Page will appear

Install Proxmox

Then use the password that was filled in during installation, with the username “root”

Username : root
Password : *******
(Which is setup during installation)

Install Proxmox

Next, to create a WebUI page from Proxmox, you can open it using a browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.), using the default port, which is 8006. (https://ip-address-server:8006).

Install Proxmox

and if there is a notice or message “Your connection is not private” can be ignored by clicking > Advanced > clickingProceed to 192.168.99.2 (unsafe)

Install Proxmox

Then on the Login Page > Fill in the Username “root” and Password during installation > Login

Install Proxmox

In conclusion, there are many features that will be discussed in Proxmox VE 7.0. For now we only share the Proxmox VE 7.0 Install Process, and we will continue with Documentation on how to use Proxmox VE, for example how to create VMs, Containers, Storage and others. Friends can also give suggestions in the comments column what documentation should we discuss next.
